The Boogiemen (now Boogeymen) began as Kevin Heckeler's home recording project in 2001. In the past 20+ years several collaborators and side projects have come and gone that helped define the Boogeymen sound. This was the result of experimentation in different genres including blues, progressive rock, metal, alternative, and even some electronica. The project's main goal has been to avoid any two songs sounding the same, while keeping a relaxed atmosphere in the writing and recording process.
Long time friend and collaborator Scott Watts took on a larger role in writing lyrics, performing vocals, and cowriting the music on The Boogeymen's alternative rock concept album Missing Pieces released in 2017.
The ambitious covid-19 inspired song "Behind Closed Doors" was released as a single in September 2020 and can be streamed / purchased on Bandcamp, iTunes, and Amazon.
Kevin and Scott's latest material has been recorded under the band name Ummm, with a new album Middle Ages released on September 1, 2023. Select tracks from this new album are being highlighted in our music player.
